The Evolution of Artisanns Nest into Patch Into Palette

Our journey began in Singapore in September 2015, when I noticed something difficult to ignore — large quantities of surplus, discontinued, and deadstock furnishing fabrics were being discarded into landfills or sent for incineration. These were not waste materials in the traditional sense. Many were premium upholstery and curtain textiles with exceptional quality, durability, and international certifications.

That realization became the foundation of Artisanns Nest.

My name is Priya Bawa, founder of Artisanns Nest and now Patch Into Palette. Professionally, I am an interior designer. During my four years working in Singapore as an FF&E designer with an international design firm, I witnessed the enormous amount of textile waste generated by the interiors industry — often with no meaningful system for reuse or recycling.

I began collecting discarded fabric samples, surplus materials, and deadstock textiles from suppliers and factories, and transforming them into functional lifestyle products. That was the beginning of our journey.

Over the years, we learned through experimentation, craftsmanship, and constant creation. One of our biggest strengths was our ability to create completely unique products using high-quality reclaimed textiles. Many of these fabrics carried international certifications such as GRS, OEKO-TEX, ISO standards, fire-resistance certifications, and high Martindale abrasion ratings.

For example:

  • Heavy upholstery textiles with high Martindale counts were transformed into beanbags, floor cushions, lounge chairs, and soft furnishings.
  • Lighter fabrics and smaller textile samples became cushion covers, bags, placemats, notebook covers, and lifestyle accessories.

However, our greatest challenge was equally clear: because we worked with reclaimed textiles, exact duplication was almost impossible.

This challenge led us to rethink our process.

As we reflected on how we designed and created products, we realized that we had unknowingly developed a structured design methodology. Every collection I designed for my team always began with a palette — a carefully curated combination of colours, textures, patterns, and materials selected from thousands of textile samples in our warehouse.

That palette became the guiding framework for creation.

The process of selecting fabric patches and transforming them into cohesive products eventually inspired our new identity: Patch Into Palette.

The name represents our belief that sustainability can be intentional, aesthetic, and design-led — not random or improvised. It reflects a structured circular design approach where waste materials are thoughtfully transformed into curated collections.

Today, Patch Into Palette operates as a circular design studio creating soft furnishings and lifestyle products based on curated palettes for interiors and living spaces.

Every thoughtfully designed space already has a visual language — a palette of colours, textures, moods, and materials. Instead of sourcing products from multiple places, we create coordinated collections that align with the look and feel of the space while making use of reclaimed textiles.

Alongside home décor, we also create lifestyle and stationery products such as notebooks, pen cases, multi-purpose pouches, knitting needle cases, and fabric accessories. These products allow us to utilize lighter or smaller textile remnants that may not be suitable for upholstery but are perfect for everyday functional objects.

Our goal is simple:
to create beautiful, functional, and sustainable solutions by utilizing textiles to their fullest potential.

We also offer customization based on colour palettes, prints, textures, shapes, sizes, and design briefs. Because our materials come from deadstock and sample textiles, most products are one-of-a-kind, with no exact repeats.

For clients who require multiple pieces, we recreate products in a similar aesthetic, colour story, or visual language rather than exact duplication.

That is what makes every creation from Patch Into Palette unique — premium pieces designed through circular thinking, where every product carries its own identity.
