OUR CIRCULAR PROCESS
Our Circular Process
Our process at Patch X Palette involves series of steps.
RESCUEING TEXTILES
RESCUE the fabrics from being sent into landfills or burnt into incinerators. Truck loads of Upholstery and curtain fabrics are directed towards our warehouses instead of landfills. These are new fabrics which are either dead stock, surplus or the catalogs/ sample pieces created by various brands.
SORT & CURATE and organize all the textiles into colour palettes and type of fabrics. There are either upholstery ones which are segregated according to martindale counts or the curtains which are sorted according to sheer fabrics and heavy duty curtain materials. Also, they are cleaned up, all the stickers, extra papers stuck are removed from each piece. All the catalogs are opened.
PATCHING UP

Next Step involves PATCHING UP the fabrics according to palettes into big 5m long yardages. This involves cutting each patch & arranging it aesthetically for the heavy duty beanbags/chairs. Also aligning and sorting the sheer and curtain fabrics between soft furnishings and stationery products.
DESIGNING & STITCHING
DESIGNING & STITCHING is the next step where products are created from the preplanned palettes and designs. From Home Decor items like beanbags, beanbag chairs, cushion covers, placemats to Stationery products like Notebooks, Roll up pen cases, laptop bags. ipad cases and so on.
OUR IMPACT
Measurable Change Through Material Reuse
At Artisanns Nest, sustainability is not a concept—it is a measurable system built around extending the life of textiles.
We work exclusively with pre-consumer surplus upholstery and curtain fabrics, transforming them into durable design products through a circular process.
| Category | Key Metric | Circular Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Waste Diversion | 100,000+ kg | Textile waste redirected from landfill and incineration streams |
| Material Sourcing | 100% Reclaimed Textiles | No use of newly produced fabrics in core product lines |
| Material Longevity | Upholstery-Grade Fabrics | High-durability materials designed for extended product life cycles |
| Circular Expertise | 10+ Years | Established practice in textile recovery and circular design systems |
1. Environmental Impact
Reducing Environmental Footprint
We not only try to utilise every inch of fabrics but also help in reducing carbon emissions along with other environmental harm. There is one cycle of waste of water and other natural resources that takes place during production of these fabric textiles. If these are again discarded into the landfills/ burnt off, it leads to the second cycle of pollution either through emission of Carbon di oxide into the earth or the air. We have been trying to save the planet by minimizing textile waste and elongating life of fabric pieces.
By working with existing textiles, we:
-
Reduce demand for new textile production
-
Minimise water and energy consumption associated with fabric manufacturing
-
Prevent usable materials from entering landfill or incineration systems
Our process supports:
-
Waste reduction
-
Resource efficiency
-
Extended material lifecycle
- Usage of solar panels help in reducing electricity usage
2. Circular By Design
Our products are developed using a circular design approach, where materials are continuously repurposed rather than discarded.
Key principles:
-
Designing with existing materials
-
Extending product lifespan through durability
-
Creating functional products from textile waste
-
Reducing reliance on virgin resources
3. Material Transparency
We work with:
-
Pre-consumer textile waste
-
Upholstery-grade fabrics (high Martindale durability)
-
Curtain fabrics including sheers and heavy drapery
All materials are:
-
Sourced from surplus and discontinued collections
-
Cleaned and prepared for reuse
-
Selected based on durability and usability
4. Waste Diversion
We actively divert large volumes of textile waste from:
-
Landfills
-
Incineration streams
By redirecting these materials into our production system, we ensure that valuable resources remain in use.
5. Product Longevity
Designed for Longevity
Our products are made using furniture-grade textiles, originally developed for heavy usage.
This ensures:
-
High durability
-
Long product lifespan
-
Reduced need for replacement
6. Compliance & Responsible Practices
We are committed to aligning with international sustainability standards and continuously improving our processes.
Our materials and production approach are designed to be compatible with:
-
REACH regulations (EU chemical safety standards)
-
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) – in progress
-
OEKO-TEX compliance (where applicable)
We are actively working towards strengthening our compliance framework for international markets.
7. Social Impact: Craft & Employment
-
Supporting girls who learn various skills and contribute in their household. They also learn to be independent earning their own money.
-
Promoting craftsmanship in textile reuse
-
Creating value from overlooked materials
We believe the future of textiles lies not in producing more, but in rethinking what already exists.
8. Sustainable Packaging
We try to make every layer of packaging sustainable. From the recycled boxes to pouches made from left over sheer fabrics to the internal wrapping fabric sheet to finally buffer pillows made out of thrown away yarns/ tiny scraps. This not only zeros down the waste but also the helps in preventing another garbage pile being added to the landfills.
Some of the initiatives that we have been able to fulfil are as follows:
